THE SHIP-11 SSS SPARTAN FLEET

Holder 14

Whether it's on one of our high desert lakes, or in the shadows of the Sierra's at Lake Diaz, or tacking down the main channel of Marina del Rey, this is a great, fast little sailboat. On an outing at Lake Pyramid, the Bos'n and Skipper flew past the 16' Neptune, the Holder with its colorful main and jib stuffed with air, like the Neptune was dragging its anchor! This boat was manufactured by Holder, a division of Hobie, the famous catamaran builders. It is often mistaken for a Capri 14.

Lightweight, the Holder is easily launched by a couple Sea Scouts and their buddies from the Troop on a joint outing as they lift it over a parking barrier at Lake Diaz, in the Sierra Foothills near Lone Pine, CA.

Battens maintain proper sail shape for the main.

The Ship's Bos'n and the Troop's an ASPL rig the lines.

Mainsail full, the gallant Scouts give a mom a ride.

The other ASPL takes the helm.

Executing a tack, with the Sierra's in the background.

Heeling on tack with main and jib full in Marina del Rey.
